The above diagrams show some alternative ways of threading laces.
I have a few pairs done with the pattern shown in E above as this gives VERY clean lines with only one diagonal of lace at the very top of the shoe.
I also use the criss-cross shown above.
Always start the criss-cross with the lace going from the inside to the outside on both sides (see photo below).
